Rakan

The mechanic

Rakan's whole kit revolves around his allies: his E dashes to an allied champion within 700 units, which is both his engage and his only way out, and his Q only heals early if an ally walks into it. With Xayah on the team the dash reaches 1000 units and the two can recall together.

Why it needs saying

A support who can neither escape nor heal without the ally's cooperation. Without the call, the adc walks away right when Rakan needs them to get out, and waits for a heal they could have triggered themselves.

When you play them

  1. team chat

    what you type

stay in range im dashing to you

    in full english

Stay in range, I'm dashing to you.

    the context

"dashing to you": Rakan does not move to a place, but to an ally. His way out after an engage is that dash, 700 units at most. An ally who walks away leaves him in the middle of the enemy team with no way back.

  2. team chat

    what you type

    come to me for heal

    in full english

Walk into my Q for the heal.

    the context

Rakan's feather only heals after three seconds, or as soon as an ally steps into it. So the heal comes when the ally decides: an adc who ignores it waits three seconds too long, usually the three that matter.

When an ally plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    rakan go i follow

    in full english

    Rakan, go, I'll follow.

    the context

Rakan engages with his W, then comes back to an ally with his E. "i follow" promises him both: that the fight will happen, and that he will have someone to come back to.

When an enemy plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

kill rakan when he jumps in

    in full english

Kill Rakan when he jumps in.

    the context

Rakan engages with his W and gets out with his E onto an ally within 700 units. If he jumps far from his team, he has no way back: that is the moment to focus him, he is fragile.
