champions
A champion only gets a page here if one of their mechanics forces a teammate to change what they do. Not an encyclopedia: the list of things worth saying.
- AniviamidWhen Anivia takes fatal damage she turns into an egg for six seconds. If the egg survives, she comes back. The passive has a four minute cooldown, so her team has to know whether protecting the egg is possible at all.
- BardsupportBard's ultimate freezes everything in its area for 2.5 seconds, allies, enemies and towers alike, and his portal opens a one-way tunnel through walls that allies cross faster than enemies. Both only work if the team understands what just happened.
- Cho'Gathtop / jungleCho'Gath's ultimate devours a target and gives him a permanent stack of bonus health, but only six stacks can come from minions and small monsters. Past that, every stack has to come from a champion or an epic monster, so his team has to leave him the last hit on drake, herald and baron.
- DravenbotDraven collects a stack for every axe he catches, every minion he kills and every tower he takes. A champion kill, and only a kill, cashes them all in for 25 gold plus 2 per stack. An assist gives nothing, and dying loses half the stacks.
- FiddlesticksjungleFiddlesticks' ultimate channels for 1.5 seconds, then blinks him 800 units into the fight with a storm of crows around him. It only works if nobody sees him coming: his team has to wait, not engage early, and not draw the enemy out of the landing spot.
- Galiomid / supportGalio's ultimate picks an ally up to 4000 to 5500 units away and lands on them 2.75 seconds later, knocking back the enemies around and shielding the allies in the area. The target has to hold position until he lands.
- KalistabotKalista hands her support a Black Spear that binds them as her Oathsworn. Her ultimate then pulls that ally to her, holds them untargetable for up to four seconds, and lets them choose where to dash out and knock up enemies. If they choose nothing, they are thrown at maximum range.
- Karthusjungle / midAfter dying, Karthus keeps casting for seven seconds without being able to move. His ultimate hits every enemy on the map after a three second channel, but only if he starts it within the first four seconds of that window.
- KassadinmidKassadin is deliberately weak early and becomes one of the strongest champions in the game once he has levels and items. His team has to survive rather than fight.
- Kayletop / midKayle is among the weakest champions in the game before level eleven and among the strongest after sixteen. Her team plays around surviving that gap.
- KindredjungleKindred's ultimate creates a zone where nobody can drop below 10% health for four seconds, allies and enemies alike. When it ends, everyone still inside is healed for 225 to 375. Allies have to stay in, and should not expect to kill anyone until it is over.
- KledtopKled rides Skaarl, and loses him when his mount's health runs out. Dismounted he is far weaker, and Skaarl cannot come back for at least four seconds. His ultimate leaves a nine second trail behind him that speeds up every ally who follows it.
- LulusupportLulu's ultimate makes an ally grow, knocks up the enemies around them for one second and gives them 275 to 575 bonus health for seven seconds. Her W gives an ally 25% movement speed for up to four seconds. Both are wasted on an ally who backs off.
- Mordekaisertop / jungleMordekaiser's ultimate drags one enemy into a separate realm for seven seconds, where nobody else can see them, reach them or help either of them. His team plays a four versus four while he duels, and steals 10% of the target's stats for the duration.
- NasustopNasus permanently increases his Q damage every time he lands a killing blow. His entire game is stacking that ability.
- NilahbotNilah's passive rewards the ally standing next to her: whenever she kills a minion, she and the nearest allied champion within 1000 units recover half the experience they would have lost by sharing. And whenever a nearby ally heals or shields her or themselves with an ability, both get a bonus on top.
- NocturnejungleNocturne's ultimate darkens every enemy's screen wherever they are, and lets him fly to one of them from a long way off: 2500 to 4000 units depending on rank, not the whole map.
- OrnntopFrom level 13 Ornn upgrades his own legendary item into a stronger Masterwork version. At each level from 14 to 17 he can do the same for one ally, once per ally, as long as they own the right item and stand within 600 units of him.
- Pantheontop / mid / supportPantheon's ultimate launches him across a large part of the map, so he can reach a fight that looked impossible to join.
- RakansupportRakan's whole kit revolves around his allies: his E dashes to an allied champion within 700 units, which is both his engage and his only way out, and his Q only heals early if an ally walks into it. With Xayah on the team the dash reaches 1000 units and the two can recall together.
- Renata GlascsupportRenata's W gives an ally five seconds of rising attack and movement speed. If that ally dies during it, they come back at full health and burn to death over the next seconds, unless they get a takedown, which stops the burn and leaves them at 20% health. Her ultimate sends enemies berserk: they attack their own team first.
- Ryzemid / topRyze's ultimate opens a portal. After a two second channel, Ryze and every ally standing inside the circle are teleported up to 3000 units away. Allies have to step in before the channel ends, or stay out if they do not want to go.
- Sennasupport / botSenna grows from souls dropped by units dying near her, and only she can pick them up. A minion she kills herself almost never drops one (5%), a minion killed by an ally does far more often (32%), and cannons always do. So she wants her allies to farm normally while she stays close enough to collect.
- Shentop / supportShen's ultimate teleports him to any ally anywhere on the map and shields them, so a fight across the map can turn into a two versus one.
- SiontopSion returns to life for a few seconds after dying, so his death is often the start of a play rather than the end of one.
- SmolderbotSmolder needs a large number of stacks before his damage matters. A stack comes from any ability hitting a champion or from a minion killed with his Q, so farming provides most of them, with breakpoints at 25, 125 and 225.
- SorakasupportSoraka heals allies continuously, including from across the map with her ultimate. Without healing reduction, a fight against her team is unwinnable.
- Sylasmid / jungleSylas copies an enemy ultimate and casts it himself. He can take it whether or not it has been cast, whether or not it is on cooldown, so the team has to play as if he already had it.
- Tahm Kenchsupport / topTahm Kench's ultimate swallows an ally for up to three seconds, carries them while he runs, and spits them out with a shield of 650 to 950. Any movement command from the swallowed ally ends it early.
- TaricsupportTaric's ultimate makes him and every ally within 400 units invulnerable for 2.5 seconds, but only after a 2.5 second delay. Allies have to stay close through the delay, then fight during the window.
- ThreshsupportThresh collects souls from units dying near him, and can throw a lantern that pulls an ally to him through walls.
- Twisted FatemidTwisted Fate's ultimate reveals the entire enemy team wherever they are, then teleports him up to 5500 units away, about a third of the map, after a 1.5 second channel.
- Veigarmid / supportVeigar's power grows permanently, with no ceiling. Given time, he ends up stronger than anything else on the map.
- ViktormidViktor upgrades his abilities with stacks from minion and monster kills. A cannon minion is worth several regular ones, which makes every stolen cannon expensive.
- Yasuomid / top / botYasuo's ultimate can only be cast on an enemy who is airborne within 1400 units. Knock-ups, knock-backs and pulls all count, and most of them come from his allies, who have to land and time their crowd control for him.
- YoricktopYorick summons a maiden that pushes a lane by herself, which makes him the best split pusher in the game as long as his team occupies everyone else.
- YuumisupportYuumi attaches to an ally and becomes untargetable, moving wherever they move. The attach breaks the moment her anchor recalls, teleports or dies, so the ally she rides carries her positioning for the whole game.
- Zacjungle / topWhen Zac dies he splits into four bloblets that reform into him after four to eight seconds. If all four are killed first, he stays dead. The passive has a five minute cooldown, and his allies are the only thing standing between the blobs and the enemies.
- Zileansupport / midZilean's ultimate marks an ally for five seconds. If they take fatal damage while marked, they come back three seconds later with 600 to 1100 health. The mark only pays off if the ally keeps fighting instead of running.
