Smolder

The mechanic

Smolder needs a large number of stacks before his damage matters. A stack comes from any ability hitting a champion or from a minion killed with his Q, so farming provides most of them, with breakpoints at 25, 125 and 225.

Why it needs saying

A stacking champion asks four other players for patience. Telling them why beats eating a surrender vote at fifteen.

When you play them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    need stacks let me farm

    in full english

I need stacks, let me farm safely.

    the context

"Safely" carries the real request: not just farm, but farm without risk. On a stacking champion, dying costs twice — the gold and the accumulation time.

When an ally plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    smolder needs time dont ff

    in full english

Smolder needs time, don't surrender yet.

    the context

"Yet" softens it: you are not saying never, you are saying not now. That is the difference between a line people listen to and one they ignore.

When an enemy plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    end before smolder 225 stacks

    in full english

End the game before Smolder reaches 225 stacks.

    the context

At 225 stacks his spells burn with true damage and execute below 6.5% health. A Smolder left to farm becomes the strongest carry on the map: the clock is your enemy.
