Taric

The mechanic

Taric's ultimate makes him and every ally within 400 units invulnerable for 2.5 seconds, but only after a 2.5 second delay. Allies have to stay close through the delay, then fight during the window.

Why it needs saying

An ultimate that protects with a delay needs two calls: stay grouped before, attack during. Without them the team backs off at the exact moment it cannot die.

When you play them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    ulting stay close 2 sec

    in full english

I'm ulting, stay close for two seconds.

    the context

"stay close" is the half that matters. The invulnerability only lands 2.5 seconds after the cast and only covers 400 units around Taric: an ally who backs off during the delay misses it completely.

  2. team chat

    what you type

    invuln now go

    in full english

    We're invulnerable now, go.

    the context

"invuln" is short for invulnerable. That is 2.5 seconds in which nothing can kill you: the moment to dive a tower or hold a baron, provided the team knows.

When an ally plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    wait taric ult then go

    in full english

Wait for Taric's ultimate, then go.

    the context

"then" orders the two actions: the ultimate first, the engage second. Going in before the delay means fighting without the spell, going in after it means fighting with 2.5 seconds of immortality.

When an enemy plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

taric ulting back off 2 sec

    in full english

Taric is ulting, back off for two seconds.

    the context

After a 2.5 second delay, Taric and his nearby allies are invulnerable for 2.5 seconds. Everything cast during that window is wasted: back off, then resume when the light goes out.
