Anivia

The mechanic

When Anivia takes fatal damage she turns into an egg for six seconds. If the egg survives, she comes back. The passive has a four minute cooldown, so her team has to know whether protecting the egg is possible at all.

Why it needs saying

An abandoned egg dies, a defended egg gives back a whole player. The difference is six seconds that allies only give if they know they are worth giving.

When you play them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    protect egg

    in full english

    Protect my egg.

    the context

"egg" needs no explanation, it is the official nickname of the passive. There are six seconds to hold: an ally who leaves the egg turns half a death into a full one.

  2. team chat

    what you type

    no egg

    in full english

    My egg is down.

    the context

"no" before a spell means it is on cooldown, like "no flash". The egg comes back every four minutes. Without it Anivia dies like anyone else, and the team has to protect her like any mage.

When an ally plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    protect anivia egg

    in full english

    Protect Anivia's egg.

    the context

"protect" is used for an object here, with the same meaning as for a carry: keep the enemies off the target for six seconds. A defended egg hands a whole Anivia back to the team.

When an enemy plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

kill the egg dont leave it

    in full english

Kill the egg, don't leave it.

    the context

An abandoned egg gives back a whole Anivia six seconds later. If you killed Anivia, finish the egg before leaving: it has little health, and its death counts as a real kill.
