Pantheon

The mechanic

Pantheon's ultimate launches him across a large part of the map, so he can reach a fight that looked impossible to join.

Why it needs saying

Like Shen, an unannounced long-range ultimate is a wasted one. The difference is one word typed two seconds earlier.

When you play them

  1. team chat

    what you type

ult up i can join any fight

    in full english

My ultimate is up, I can reach almost any fight.

    the context

Announcing an ultimate with 5500 units of range, a third of the map, changes which fights your team is willing to take. "ult up" alone is a complete sentence to any player.

  2. team chat

    what you type

    im ulting to you hold

    in full english

I'm ulting to you, hold on.

    the context

"Hold" means stay, don't disengage. Without it your ally runs before you land and the ultimate is wasted — the same trap as on Shen.

When an enemy plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    panth 6 no dive bot

    in full english

Pantheon is level six, don't dive bot.

    the context

His ultimate flies him up to 5500 units, a third of the map. A bot lane dive while Pantheon has his ultimate ends up three versus three. Track his level six and his cooldown.
