Cho'Gath

The mechanic

Cho'Gath's ultimate devours a target and gives him a permanent stack of bonus health, but only six stacks can come from minions and small monsters. Past that, every stack has to come from a champion or an epic monster, so his team has to leave him the last hit on drake, herald and baron.

Why it needs saying

The last hit on an objective goes to the jungler by convention. Cho'Gath asks to break that convention, and nobody will do it without knowing why.

When you play them

  1. team chat

    what you type

let me eat drake for stack

    in full english

Let me eat the drake for a stack.

    the context

"eat" is the verb everyone uses for Cho'Gath's ultimate. Past six stacks taken from minions, only champions and epic monsters still give one. An eaten drake is 80 to 160 permanent health, and a jungler who smites it instead wipes that out.

  2. team chat

    what you type

im 6 stacks now need champs

    in full english

I'm at six stacks, I need champion kills now.

    the context

The announcement of the threshold: from here on, minions give nothing. The team knows that a last hit left to Cho'Gath on a champion is worth more than a kill for anyone else.

When an ally plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

    cho eat baron we cover

    in full english

    Cho'Gath, eat baron, we'll cover.

    the context

The call of a teammate who understands the mechanic. Cho'Gath's ultimate deals 1200 true damage plus his bonus health to monsters, which makes it a second smite: the jungler can keep theirs to secure, and Cho'Gath gets his stack.

When an enemy plays them

  1. team chat

    what you type

dont let cho eat drake smite it

    in full english

Don't let Cho'Gath eat the drake, smite it.

    the context

Cho'Gath's ultimate deals 1200 true damage to monsters, plus his bonus health: it is a second smite. A jungler who saves his own for the last second loses the drake to him.
